Hi everyone!

Work has gotten in the way of other things lately.  Sorry to ignore you.

Remember to reserve your room at Forest Suites in the next few weeks, and no later than June 28th, when we our block will come to an end.  You can still get the rates listed on the website after June 28, but you risk there being no rooms left.  I've posted costs of rooms if shared--which I know for those of us looking for economical ways to go to the reunion, will be important.

The sign-up for the various events is going to be set up within the next 2-3 weeks, too.  My brother, Brad,  has kindly agreed to keep track of who will be doing what, and I will post more instructions when that is ready to go.  Thanks for your patience.

I see more people have been joining the website, and I believe more are coming to the reunion, from the messages they are posting.  Thank you John Hill and Don Dickson for beating the bushes for missing alumni,  sending out emails and calling to invite and encourage everyone to come!  You are the best.

Meanwhile, A Beautiful Day members are working with John H. to get their musical reunion tuned up--you won't want to miss it!

Feel free to contact me directly at my email:  powelltracy@hotmail.com.  Otherwise, stay posted.  I will also send out emails when it is time for you to sign up for events!

Take care and have a happy and safe Memorial Day!

  Tracy

Truckee River Raft is an leisurely and casual float from Tahoe City down a 5 mile stretch of the Truckee River to the River Ranch. It's tons of fun for all ages! Watch a video at: http://www.truckeeriverrafting.com/tahoe/SITE/top/listing.cfm/activity/165/0/direct?c=1

Any who may prefer not to float can wait at the River Ranch (w/ food & drinks) and watch the rest of us get off the rafts after the float. PS - My 85 yr old mother did it last year!

hi tracy . it's so great that you're putting this reunion together with your brother! i thought i was goimg to be able to come but i'm going to utah that week and will be returning to california on sunday aug 2. i'll probably be going past tahoe on i-80 by early afternoon but it looks like people will be leaving sunday am. a couple of my friends from h-berg are planning on coming up. Jim Snyder, Bob Hyde & Jim Cole, with their wifes girlfriends etc. all from the 60's allum, 67,68,etc. anyway, i'm going with the" Patriot Guard" on my motorcycle with a large group to head up a funeral for a fallen veteran of the war. we're leaving on wed 7/29/09 & returning 8/2/09. i was hoping to sing with "a beatiful day". i had a band in h-berg called "the dark ages" from 64-67. i have a 7 piece band  now & currentlly  play in the sf bay area . i've recorded 3 alblums of original music and had moderate success commercially. however, i still squeeze in numerous 60's tunes that we played in h-berg way back when! i'm interested in your story since leaving h-berg and your classmates too. it's so great to have such a connection to our unique history. if any one is planning on staying over on sunday it would be good to see you on my way back {depending how hung over you are & how exausted i am from the motorcycle ride}. i live in the sf bay area and have administered a service agency for disabled children & adults for the past 25 years. residential, vocational, crisis intervention & in home support services for parents & providers. i also belong to a voluntary club called BACA, "bikers against child abuse". we actually go to court with abused children and support them when they have to testify against the perpatraiter. we allso visit them at home and attempt to provide positve, dependable and safe role models for them since it's so haard to trust after these tramatic experiences. so thats enough about me. i would love to hear from any of you and your h-berg experience.by the way when i was there it was 4 marks to a $, and with 5 marks i could go out to freddy's gaust haus and eat  wienerstizel, pom frietz, and drink 1/2 litter german bier for the whole night . ha!  did any of you go to Freddy's gaust haus in kersheim??? ok out for now. rbeutler8@cs.com<rondo67>

Rondo,

Freddy's was the 'teen club alternative' for a large number of us who dedicated many hours of our misspent youth there.  But it was part of the experience, wasn't it?   Yeah, I think it was sitll about 4 DM / $1 when I graduated in '70.

I'm glad you found our website and checked in.  Lane Ellis was CO 66 by the way.  Do you remember him?  He's coming to the reunion, and also hosts an annual reunion in Estes Park, CO every year.  You might want to get in touch with him.  There are others from earlier classes who may be coming, as well.

So sorry you won't be at Tahoe for the reunion--or maybe there will be a few stragglers left on Sunday--the timing is square on--same dates!  Your other event sounds like a touching gesture, however, and I understand why you won't be able to make it.  Sorry to miss the opportunity to meet you--sounds like you're an interesting guy with a lot of worthy causes.  [I've been a law guardian for kids in family court the last couple of years, and see a lot of the cases that you deal with from essentially the same perspective.]  And I'm sure ABD would not mind having more musicians around on Friday night!    What recordings have you done?  Any around/available?

Have you been back to H-berg at all since you left?  I've been back for 3 reunions there.  My main reason for having the reunion in Tahoe is to reach more alum who are not inclined or able to make the bigger trip back.    There are lot of alum in the bay area and in the western part of the US in general.  Sounds like you've stayed in touch with several alum yourself.  Let me know if things change or you're able to stop in briefly on your ride.

  Tracy
